Exercising during pregnancy is always a very good idea, and the benefits for you are numerous. Exercise will help ensure that you stay healthy and fit. The healthier you are during pregnancy, the less likely you will have any difficulties with pregnancy. The fitter you are, the easier your childbirth experience will be. It will help you control weight gain during pregnancy and weight loss after pregnancy. It will also help minimize stretch marks.

Most importantly exercise will:

” Help maintain a healthy and steady weight gain for you and your baby.

” Increase your Self esteem, lowering depression and anxiety.

” Help reduce pregnancy related discomfort such as backaches, leg cramps, constipation, bloating, and swelling.

” Help you to recover from delivery and return to a healthy weight faster.

” Accelerate postpartum weight loss.

” Improve your mood, energy level, and feelings about the way you look.

” Improve sleep quality. ” Strengthen your muscles and improve your blood flow.

Exercising does however need to be kept in moderation. If you are someone who has always exercised, then there are a few changes that will need to be made to adapt to your changed body. If you have just started to exercise, then you will need to ease yourself into it.

” If you have been exercising regularly, you will be able to maintain your routine to some extent throughout your pregnancy.

” If you are just starting to exercise you should start gradually.

” Try and exercise at least 3 times a week.

” Stretch, but not too much. Extreme stretching could actually cause more damage than good.

” Try and measure your heart rate constantly during exercise. Try not to exceed 150 beats per minute.

” Hydrate with cold refreshing water before and during exercise.

” Don’t lift heavy weights while pregnant.

” Never exercise to the point of breathlessness.

” Wear comfortable clothing that fits well and supports and protects your breasts.

” Stop exercising if you feel dizzy, short of breath, pain in your back, swelling, numbness, sick to your stomach, or if your heart is beating too fast or at an uneven rate.

” Choose moderate activities that are unlikely to injure you, such as walking, aqua aerobics, swimming, yoga, or hire a personal trainer with a certification in maternity fitness who can give you a tailored program to suit all your needs and enhance your maternity experience.

Exercising after Birth:

Most women are very eager to regain their pre-pregnancy figures, and women who have exercised through out their pregnancy will gain their figure back much faster than those who haven’t exercised during pregnancy.

As before when you started training or exercising when you were first pregnant, you need to start off slowly. You may only start exercising again once your body has completely healed from the stress of labor. So start slowly, and enjoy getting back the figure you used to have!
Tips for pregnancy

Talk to your health care provider about how much weight you should gain during your pregnancy. Eat foods rich in folate, iron, calcium, and protein, or get these nutrients through a prenatal supplement.

Talk to your health care provider before taking any supplements.

Eat breakfast every day.

Eat high-fiber foods and drink plenty of water to avoid constipation.

Avoid alcohol, raw fish, fish high in mercury, soft cheeses, and anything that is not food.

Aim to do at least 30 minutes of moderate activity on most days of the week. Talk to your health care provider before you begin.
After you deliver your baby, continue eating well. Return to a healthy weight gradually.

Slowly get back to your routine of regular, moderate physical activity.
Take pleasure in the miracles of pregnancy and birth.

How To Create Memorable Gifts For Children

Filed under: Children Fun — admin @ 10:58 pm

Gift giving is a time honored tradition shared by children and adults alike the world over.

With time the memory of an ordinary gift will fade. One thing you can do to make a lasting impression on children is offer them a gift that is unique, memorable and out of the ordinary.

You may find years after the fact that the child still speaks of your gift with fondness and affection. They may even keep it for years after they have grown.

Shopping for ordinary gifts is not hard. Shopping for the extraordinary gift requires a little more thought and a small amount of effort.

The long term rewards are well worth the investment in time however.

So how exactly do you create memorable and long lasting gifts for children?

Whether you are looking for a memorable gift for children or adults, the main thing you want to be on the look out for is a gift that will be personal to the individual in some way.

When shopping for a child, consider the child’s age, hobbies, likes and dislikes and even personality. If you want to create a great gift for a child other than your own, consider chatting with the child’s parents to find out what types of things their child is into.

You may find that the child has a favorite cartoon character or book. You can create a great gift around a theme like this.

Here are some great gift ideas that children will remember for years to come:

- Have a caricature drawn of them standing with their favorite cartoon character.
- Buy them a whole series of their favorite characters books and write a personal message on the inside of each one.
- Take a snapshot of the two of you and make a home made picture frame.
- Buy some plaster and make hand ceramic plates together. Decorate them for the occasion.
- Create an album of the child’s life including stickers, quotes and other memorabilia and give to the child on a significant birthday.
- Write a song about the child. Have a professional put it to music and record a CD for the child.
- Craft a unique poem about the child. Have it framed.
- Write a story about the child and have it printed at a printing shop to make it an official book. Read the story aloud to the child whenever you get together.
- Take your child with you to the store and let them pick out something they feel is truly meaningful and representative of your relationship.

There are many things you can do to create lasting memories. Remember that childhood is such a short time in a child’s life. Your better off making the most of it while you can.

Help Your Kids Learn More About Managing Their Personal Economy

Filed under: Children Fun — admin @ 3:43 am

Remember when cash was a tangible commodity in all of our personal economies? As kids, we went to the bank, shopped with our parents and frequently watched them pay with cash. Now with cash on the endangered species list, today’s kids see their personal economic situation much differently. As we enjoy the convenience of charge cards, stored value cards, debit cards and ATM cards, the challenge of teaching kids about an invisible commodity like money is magnified. If you’re searching for ways to teach your kids more about what makes up their personal economy, including the importance of saving and how to set and reach their financial goals, here are some practical tips.

Give kids an allowance - If you give your child an allowance, try tying their allowance to responsibilities like feeding pets, taking out trash or cleaning their rooms. Of course, the level of responsibility and the amount of the allowance should be tied to the children’s ages and abilities, and your own financial means.

Help kids build up their personal economy by establishing savings goals - Work with your kids to create a list of why they should save and things they want to save for - big and small - then help them prioritize it. Ask them to put three stars next to the things they want most, two stars next to the things they would like and one star next to those that are least important. Have them categorize the items as most expensive to least expensive. You can help them use these ratings to choose what they want to save for by focusing on the three-star items they want most and determining how much they think they can save.

Help kids find a place to keep their savings - It’s a good idea to keep savings and spending money separate perhaps in labeled containers. By attaching a picture of that “something special” to their savings container, kids can keep their goal visible. They could use different colored wallets for savings and for spending money or ask if they would like to open a savings account at your bank while keeping spending money at home.

Help kids track their progress. Let’s face it, kids find saving boring (honestly, so do a lot of adults). You can help build and maintain the excitement of reaching a personal economic goal by making a savings thermometer and coloring in the sections as money is saved. Post your child’s progress charts in visible places and celebrate their progress. It’s important to make saving money fun and rewarding with many celebrations along the way.

Encourage kids to avoid spur-of-the-moment spending. While most kids have good intentions for their savings goals, their plans are often derailed by impulse purchases like that hot new toy. Here is some advice you can give your kids to keep them from getting off-course:

  • Leave money behind - Bring only a small amount of money on shopping trips to help avoid impulse purchases.

  • Don’t forget about your savings goal - Carry a picture of what you are saving for and compare it to anything you are tempted to buy.

  • Be a bargain hunter - Wait for the item you want to go on sale and watch for coupons.

  • Don’t rush into purchases - Avoid buying anything you see for at least two weeks. Add it to your “wants” list and then prioritize it against the other things you want.

  • Ask for help in securing money - Parents can help keep your savings in a safe place if you think you will be tempted to spend it.

Once your kids establish a saving pattern you’ll find they take great pride in striving for and reaching their financial goals. You might even consider matching their savings after they prove they are serious about putting away an agreed upon amount. As with anything else in life, your children will find determination and patience are rewarded, and the payoff for reaching their personal economic goals is worth the challenge of getting there.

Filed under: Children Fun — admin @ 3:13 pm

Expressing yourself in finding some of the best unique baby gifts is a passion to some people. They desire to give baby shower gifts that not only no one has ever seen but has not ever heard of. “Oh, that’s a baby rocker carved out of a Jing-Jong sapling by a tribe in the New Genoa Territories of Southern Newfoundland.”

Yes it will make a hit at the baby shower and it is nice with all its bell and whistles not to mention a month’s membership to the pest control company of your choice. But can you use it?

The best unique baby gifts are always the ones that make an immediate contribution to the family unit. Some of the all time greatest could be considered diapers and wipes. If you’re are a mom you know all the hours used and how many times you had to bolt to the store to reload your diaper bag.

Even better, how about an entire case of baby diaper or a case of baby wipes. Some other great baby shower gift ideas might be a solid gold ID bracelet; No-Tears shampoo and a hand held video baby monitoring system.

Be practical. Yes, supporting indigenous tribesmen is a noble cause but give the gift that keeps on giving. Give a gift that lends a helping hand and you will never miss. Express yourself and find the best unique baby gifts here.

Delicious Baby Shower Centerpieces

Filed under: Children Fun — admin @ 1:01 pm

One thing that will never go out of style at baby showers is chocolate, guaranteed. Some would say that a baby shower would not be complete without chocolate! What does go in and out of style at baby showers, then, is the way in which that chocolate is served.

An up-and-coming baby shower centerpiece trend that is becoming quite popular lately is the Chocolate Fountain.

What is a Chocolate Fountain?

Now, most of you already know the answer and may have even used one. But for those of you who don’t know: A chocolate fountain is a stainless steel 2 or 3 (or more) tiered fountain that melts chocolate and produces a continuous flow of chocolate film over the tiers. At a party, there is a variety of “dippers” which are used to dip into the chocolate film, cover your item with the desired amount of chocolate and eat it, savoring every moment. That last part is important!

Why are Chocolate Fountains Becoming so Popular?

Baby shower chocolate fountains are becoming popular because it is a novel and interactive experience. There is just something fascinating about dipping food into a waterfall of melted chocolate. Plus, everything tastes better with chocolate! Right?

A chocolate fountain is also an elegant and impressive baby shower centerpiece. Not very many parties feature a chocolate fountain, so it is a classy and unique baby shower centerpiece to have.

Also, a chocolate fountain is a popular baby shower food idea because it simplifies your menu. You serve chocolate and dippers. That’s it! Minimal preparation is required. And with so many other things to plan for at the baby shower, it is nice not to have to worry about the baby shower food.

What type of Dippers should You Use?

Here are some popular Baby Shower Chocolate Fountain Dippers:

  • Apple Slices
  • Strawberries
  • Bananas
  • Pineapple
  • Grapes
  • Blueberries
  • Orange Slices
  • Maraschino Cherries
  • Marshmellows
  • Rice Krispie Treats
  • All Types of Cookies
  • Graham Crackers
  • Pretzels
  • Wafer Cookies
  • Animal Crackers
  • Peanut Butter Treats
  • Biscotti
  • Frozen Eclairs

Should You Use a Chocolate Fountain as Your Baby Shower Centerpiece?

If you love chocolate, then Of Course! Actually, there are plenty of other ways to feed your chocolate craving other than a chocolate fountain. It depends on how big you want the baby shower to be. If you have the budget and want a sure way to WOW the guests then a chocolate fountain would be a perfect touch to your baby shower.

They are somewhat expensive, so they are more of a luxury than a “must have.” You can rent one at a party rental store - but be sure to rent one in your price range! There are several “types” and some are much more expensive than others. Some baby shower chocolate fountains are very big and there are smaller ones as well, which are less expensive, so shop around at a few different places to get the best price.

Bottom line: It all comes down to chocolate. As long as that is part of the baby shower, everyone is happy! And having a chocolate fountain there is one way to heighten the experience.

Jump Start the Grey Cells in Your Child

Filed under: Children Fun — admin @ 9:07 am

Centuries ago, midwives and mothers advised pregnant women to stay happy, listen to music, be around nature, and embrace good health. Now advanced research in child development shows that brain development in children does not occur after birth but begins in the womb itself.

Sharpen the Intellect

Thinking skills are the most crucial in the technological world of today. Educators firmly believe that it is not the volume of knowledge but the ability to assimilate and make sense of information that is essential. Children must know how to find solutions to problems and situations.

The goal of education is to teach children to be effective thinkers —as you know, this is what equips them to stay ahead in situations where solutions need to be found at the snap of fingers. So, you must focus on cognitive development and higher order thinking.

As a parent there are a great many ways in which you can work towards the goal of effective thinking and higher reasoning. Technology has made available several computer programs, software CDs, and DVDs that are fun to use and place the children in more and more difficult situations, which they need to solve. The focus of companies such as Smart Neurons are educational teaching aids and toys which fulfill the goal of enhancing thinking, mathematical abilities, and problem solving in children.

Exercise Clears Cobwebs

Our grandmothers used to say that fresh air will clear the cobwebs in the mindthey were absolutely right. Physical activity, fresh air, and exercise help stimulate the brain and enhance learning.

Children need sustained physical exercise and as a parent you need to ensure this by taking the child to a park or play ground where he can run and play. Allow the child to climb the jungle tree, sit on swings, play ball with others.

Music Creates Geniuses

Wow! Did you know that music majors stand a higher chance at becoming doctors and most successful techies at Silicon Valley are practicing musicians —don’t be surprised to hear this but music creates geniuses.

Listening to music and learning music enhances retentive powers and vocabulary. Music nurtures the brain and stimulates overall growth. Studies show that listening to Mozart’s piano sonata K448 for just 10 minutes increased spatial scores in IQ tests.

Many parents now expose even newborn babies and older children to recorded classical music as it is firmly believed that it helps infants think better.

Food for Thought

It is not just brain-stimulating activities that boost brain power, the food a child eats affects its thinking as well. Did you know, a brain needs plenty of carbohydrates, fats, as well as proteins, vitamins and minerals for both repair as well as function? In fact, many mothers are witness to mood swings and erratic behavior in their children after the consumption of chocolates or junk sugar foods like candy, icing, syrups, and packaged baked products. The sugar highs and lows caused by certain kinds of foods can make a child fidgety, irritable, inattentive, and sleepy.

The best brain foods that you can feed your child are brain friendly carbs like: grapefruit, apples, cherries, and orangeseaten whole is more beneficial than juice; oatmeal and bran as well as spaghetti and rice; legumes like soybeans, kidney beans, chick peas, and lentils; milk and yogurt. Introduce foods that have a low glycemic index into your little one’s diet.
