VOIP/Net Phone Revolution

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:26 am

Have you seen them? The commercials about Net phones and how they can save you a ton of money on long-distance? Okay, so now you want to know how it works, what’s in it for you, are there any hidden charges that will have me paying the same if not more per month than my current, reliable land-line phone, Am I going to sound like E.T. attempting to phone home on this thing and what are they not telling me that could nix the whole deal? Well, here you are.

How it works:

VOIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol, is just that. Your voice is sent in what are known as packets, accross the internet and re-assembled at the receiving end. Kind of like that machine in the “The Fly”, only a lot more stable (no incects messing up your DNA or anything). You plug your internet connection (which must be broadband, DSL or Cable) into your modem (as usual), you then plug the modem into your adapter, and then connect your adapter to your other devices (Phone, Fax, Computer).

Not that difficult, but since configurations vary from provider to provider,I urge you to check it out yourself.

What’s in if for you:

Lower prices. Truthfully, VOIP delivers on it’s promise of lower prices. There are taxes and fees, but they will only bump your final monthly bill about 2 to 3 dollars. Quality, still lags behind land line, but that is to be expected. What is not to be expected how far VOIP quality has come in a short amount of time. Many people never notice a difference between
speaking to someone using VOIP and speaking to someone using land line technology (See “Net Phones Grow Up” by Jeff Betolucci and Tom Kortie, PC World, September 2005).

What Are They Not Telling Me That Could Nix the Whole Deal?

There are a couple of concerns with VOIP. One is that, with VOIP relying on an internet connection, if your internet connection is down for some reason, you have no phone. The other concern is 911. 911 systems and VOIP vendors have not been playing nice in the sandbox. Fortunately, E911 is being enforced by the FCC and all VOIP vendors must provide 911
service that rivals that of landline users by November 28, 2005. So, basically, the second issue is no longer an issue.

What’s the difference between Net Phones and a Service like Skype?

Skype requires a PC for both users. It is PC to PC communication. There is no true “Phone”, while Net Phone uses your phone and a portable adapter. The adapter can be taken on the road and used anywhere you find a high-speed connection. Skype is not a replacement for your current phone service, net phone is. You can bypass the phone company completely. You don’t end up paying for services that the phone company charges you for, like voicemail, 3-Way calling, Call-Forwarding, etc.,; these fees are all covered in your $25-$40 a month for unlimited calls.

Economically, VOIP makes sense. You get comparable quality for a much lower price and more standard features. Hopefully this will help you make a more informed decision or at the very least help you decide if VOIP is right for you or your small/home business.

Autonomous Artificial Intelligent Android Strategies in Mission Completion

Filed under: Video Stuff — admin @ 4:32 pm

One of the goals in creating autonomous artificial intelligent robotic androids is to send them off on a mission, without human assistance and have that Mission completed perfectly 100 percent of the time. Or is close to one or percent as humanly possible considering the black belt theory of six Sigma. But if we are to send off one or more robotic androids to complete a task, then they must also learned to work together as a team. That of course is not as easy as it sounds, although it is being considered in universities in robotic competitions across America, using swarm theory.

This is all well and good, however a true artificial intelligent android, which are the most part will be modeled after human thought may not use the same methods of bonding as humans do when they unite in a common cause or a team effort to complete a task, win a game or accomplish a goal. We see in nature higher order animals of prey, which work together, hunt together and remain socially united. Robotic autonomous artificial intelligent androids will also need to be programmed for self-preservation, preservation of the group and teamwork. That is to say not only must be assigned themselves tasks, based on their memory, experiences and observations in the various previous tasks which they have performed, but they must also allow themselves to be assigned tasks by other team member androids or give orders in tasks to their fellow robotic artificial intelligent androids in order to complete the Mission.

Although this may sound obvious from an abstract standpoint, it is hardly any easy programming task, but one that must be fulfilled in done correctly if we are to have and send robotic artificial intelligent androids to do our bidding, accomplish goals and complete tasks with accuracy and without the mistakes. Sending in a team of robots out to accomplish a task, when all the details are not known, means the team must think together in a group, evaluate the situation and act decisively. I do hope that you will consider this in 2006.

Montevina Gaming Portables Being Launched by Big Brands

Filed under: Information Technology — admin @ 9:12 pm

Just a while ago it looked like powerful laptops were only being produced by a couple of boutique resellers and were built to spec, not mass produced. Before the lack of sales was made up by the profit margins. The price was just too big to justify buying these types of notebook computer for people. Perhaps they were never the most practical but I still believe they were the best laptops. I guess we all got excited about them but the majority would never buy laptops that were so pricey. The global brands have recently begun taking advantage of giant opportunities in gaming laptops, so that is all transforming.

Laptops for gaming are ordinarily not affordable by people and big brands know they can prosper from the big markup even further with their low fixed costs. These companies have possibly been losing some money on cheap systems so this should be an attractive opportunity. I’m quite sure that most of us would buy laptops if marketed to everyone by these large companies. What would little resellers possibly do if they are priced out of the sector? I’m fairly certain that the multinational companies will attempt to force the small ones out. I reckon buying from a well know brand also provides the perception of added value for money.

Astonishingly, the laptops they are making are a couple of the best laptops to date. Still however, for the little small companies this could prove to be good. In my view being able to specify the components you want should be a deciding factor. These particular purchasers are traditionally very well educated with the technology and can judge each of the parts by themselves. For a couple of purchasers, the tech specs and speed can be way more important compared to style.

From a purchasers perspective this is all a good thing. Ultimately it will drive prices down even further and make the latest technology even more accessible for the market. Though I say that, I’m not actually certain of my claims. I doubt if the whole price of notebooks will be reduced but the latest systems are typically at specific prices. Even though I still think things will be good because of the saturated sector, we will have to watch.

In my view this web site http://www.rizeon.com are selling laptops for gaming at good prices.

Contrary Opinion

Filed under: World Wide Web Resources — admin @ 8:12 pm

Contrary Opinion is a sophisticated analytical technique used by astute speculators
to take advantage of important turning points in the market.

It has been historically well observed that the prevailing sentiment of the vast majority
of market participants at major market junctures has been absolutely, utterly, inexorably,
and completely wrong.

The “public” has duly demonstrated, time and time again, its uncanny ability to be wrong
at precisely that point in history when it was most important to be right.

Students of crowd psychology have characterized such behavior as “phenomena” or “manias”.

Thus, the unmistakable Contrary Opinion lesson to be learned: A veritable fortune awaits
those able to separate themselves from the “crowd” at such moments.

Simple? Yes. Easy? No. Au contraire (pardon the shameless pun).

Becoming a “contrarian” requires a degree of mental discipline such that one might almost
seem to be not-of-the-human race. Someone sort of like the character Spock, of Star Trek
fame, immediately comes to mind.

Trust me when I tell you that, given the choice, most humans much prefer the company of
other humans to being alone, especially in times of great stress or anxiety. And, of
course, there’s never any stress or anxiety present in the stock market, right?

This could explain the popularity of stock market internet chat rooms. Misery loves
company. Hence, the term, herd mentality.

Especially, when things are going well in the market, no one wants to hear that the
party’s over. They’d rather shoot the messenger and “party on, dude!”

After all, the public only likes to play the market from the long side. They’re the good
guys. They never go short. Short sellers are the bad guys. To them, selling short sounds
wrong and un-American.

Imagine, trying to benefit from the markets decline! Making money when everyone else is
losing. Shameful. Disgusting. See their mind set?

Every speculator that knows to get in when others want out and get out when others want in
is expert at Contrary Opinion. How else can they be successful?

All that is required is to be able to determine what the prevailing sentiment is and go
against it. Sounds easy, but it’s not quite that simple. You see, the public is not always
wrong. They’re only wrong when it’s most important to be right. At major junctures.

The public likes to buy on dips and sell on rallies. This works. Until it doesn’t.

My favorite definition of a long term investment: A short term speculation that didn’t
work out.

The public exhibits the least amount of fear at major market tops and the most fear
at major market bottoms.

Thus, the more exuberant they become the closer the market must be to the top. Conversely,
the more frightened, the closer to the bottom.

Being expert at Contrary Opinion is synonymous with being expert at crowd psychology and
the stock market can’t value that highly enough.

Because No One Cares More About Your Money Than You

Where is “King Content?”

Filed under: World Wide Web Resources — admin @ 2:04 pm

One bit of advice you’ll read over and over about business websites is that “content
is king”. Whether this is true or not is debatable, but most marketing and web
advisors agree that content is very important. Great! But how do you get this
fabulous, important content that surfers are looking for?

Most businesses assume that they can create it in-house. Not a bad idea. After all,
they would be writing about their own subject. That shouldn’t be so hard. Should it?
Well, very few of us are natural writers; able to turn any subject into scintillating
prose that our public will eat up. Even for those who are able to do this, do they–
do you–have the time? And what’s your time worth?

Quality content is expensive to create. For your website to be a useful marketing or
sales tool, the cost of delivering clients must be low enough to make it profitable. A
difficult balancing act.

There are a variety of ways you can “develop” content for your website, which don’t
include huge expenditures of time or cash, including the following:

COMPILE and CONDENSE
In general, people prefer to read short, sharp copy on the web. (Articles like this one
are one of the exceptions. :-) ) If you have content in other formats, summarise it.
It’s far cheaper than creating content from scratch.

Also, you can summarise content from other web sites or print media. It’s true.
Under copyright law, you CAN use other people’s material, using the principle of
“fair use”. To see how to do this, read the newspaper and trade magazines. They
often are ‘reporting’ on someone else’s information. You take some of the material
you want to use directly as quotes, and write your own commentary around it.

CASE STUDIES
For a company whose business is problem solving, case studies can provide tonnes
of interesting content. Writing up a case study is quite simple. Do it in three parts.
1. The situation the client faced. 2. The solution you proposed and implemented. 3.
The results your client received from your solution. There’s no need for fancy prose.
Just the facts ma’am.

LINKING
There is no less expensive content than a link. Some websites gain all of their
popularity through their links. In fact, that’s all search engines and directories are,
just huge collections of links.

You can build a large collection of hard-to-find, specialised links, exclusive to your
industry. This will make you a resource for those looking for the websites you link
to.

The downside is if someone is coming to your site to search for a particular website,
they will soon be leaving your site to visit the link. You need to make the rest of
your site intriguing enough to keep these searchers with you.

The best kind are reciprocal links, where you trade links with other websites who
attract the same sort of traffic as you are looking for. Think of it as a form of barter.
Some advisors tell you not to link to your competitors. I disagree. Your competitors’
websites are the ideal places to exchange links with. (If they have the nerve to.)

To see more about how to find reciprocal links, read my article called a “Quick Guide
to Finding Reciprocal Links” at http://www.capstonecomm.com/articleindex.html

STRATEGIC ALLIANCE
Does your site need a substantial amount of new content on a regular basis?
Content that you don’t already create. If so, the ideal solution may be to form an
alliance with someone who does produce the right sort of content. (Here, you likely
don’t want to ally yourself with a competitor.)

A writer might want more exposure on the web, so will allow you to run his articles
in exchange for links back to his own website or e-mail. These links would appear
in the full bio, which is published along with every article he gives you. Other
content producers might need something you produce on a regular basis. That need
might be the basis to build the alliance from.

BUY IT!
There are many authors on the web selling general content, and willing and able to
develop custom content for you. There are also organisations devoted to developing
and selling content. These include news feeds, many of which may be appropriate to
your needs.

GET YOUR VISITORS TO CREATE IT
This can be best of all. There are a number of tools to enable your visitors to
generate content: mailing lists, discussion lists, chat rooms, client reviews, etc. (For
example, Amazon gets its customers to write online reviews of books they have
purchased.)

These tools can be set up to run automatically, but there is a danger to the ‘hands
off’ approach. Spammers can pollute your discussion list with their advertising. Chat
rooms can degenerate into rude and lewd war zones. Mailing lists can be abused in
the same fashion. For these tools to work in your favour, they must be watched on a
daily (or even tighter) basis.

There you have it. Six different approaches to creating “King Content”. Do you have
any other ways of generating content I haven’t mentioned? I’d like to hear from you
if you do.

A Good Ghostwriter - How to Decide

Filed under: World Wide Web Resources — admin @ 5:26 pm

A ghostwriter is a writer who creates an article or other publication for another company or person, essentially not getting credit for the creation. The person or company gets the credit and the ghostwriter is paid, making a win-win situation for both the writer and the company.

There are several reasons you may need a ghostwriter. The first being you just may not have the time to write the article(s) yourself. Second, you may feel you do not have the skills needed to write an article.

When searching for a good ghostwriter there is a few things to keep in mind. First, find a writer that would write the article in the way you would. A good ghostwriter should allow your personality to shine through within the article. You should also seek a writer who is knowledgeable on the topic at hand and possesses the ability to organize and write it specifically for your target audience.

Always ask to see samples of their writing, ensuring their experience in ghostwriting. You will want to look at various samples and get an idea of their personality and that it clicks with your own. Make certain you clearly specify what you expect and find out what the writer expects as well. Never go into a contract or agreement without first understanding what expected of each party.

Your chosen ghostwriter should meet all your deadlines exactly. Preferably, they should beat the deadline and make allowances for changes and corrections. Additionally, he or she should be flexible and available to you for the entire period of your project.

You should define to the ghostwriter the content the article(s), should contain. As well as, the format in which you require the article. The ghostwriter should deliver the article(s) to you in whatever manner you choose. If this is not possible, perhaps you should acquire another writer.

Finally, go with your instincts, communicate well with the ghostwriter, and then decide if they are the proper writer for your project. A good ghostwriter will maintain excellent communication, provide the utmost professionalism, and create a well-written article in a timely manner.

While I do write most of my own articles, there are times that I just need to find somebody else, usually due to time constraints. For this I recommend hiring a freelancer using sites like www.scriptlance.com or www.elance.com. On sites such as these you can post a project that you want to be done and then have multiple writers bid. Follow the guidelines in the article for choosing a ghostwriter and you will find that you can easily create a lot of quality content for very little money.

Small Business Marketing: 10 Ways to Build a Prospect List Worth Its Weight In Gold

Filed under: World Wide Web Resources — admin @ 9:55 pm

Do you know what your most valuable business asset is?

It’s your list. Why?

Because you need to build relationships in order to reap clients. And your list enables you to do that with people who have already expressed an interest in what you have to offer.

So how do you start building your list?

Here are 10 ways to get you started.

1) Publish a free newsletter, ezine or helpful tips on a regular basis. It gives people a reason to subscribe to your list. I recommend you publish at least monthly.

2) Offer a Free Bonus to encourage people to subscribe. It could be a special report, e-book or an e-course. I’ve offered both special reports and an e-course, with good results.

3) Include a Subscription Box on every page of your web site. You never know what page someone will enter your site. So make sure they know about your list regardless of where they enter.

4) Include a page on your web site with more information on your newsletter or ezine. Just because it’s free doesn’t mean everyone will sign up for it. You still have to “sell” them on it.

5) Write and publish articles. Make sure to include a resource box at the bottom, complete with an invitation to visit your web site to subscribe to your free newsletter or ezine.

6) Include an invitation to subscribe to your ezine in all your marketing. Someone may not be ready to buy, but they may be interested in learning more about you and maintaining contact.

7) Print an invitation to subscribe on the backside of your business cards. And don’t forget to mention your free bonus, too.

8) Teach teleseminars. In addition to making a special product or service offer at the end of the call, also offer attendees the chance to subscribe to your free newsletter or ezine.

9) Use your email signature to promote your newsletter or ezine. Make sure to include your website URL so people know where they can subscribe.

10) Ask your current subscribers to refer their friends. Make sure you have a referral program or a “Tell A Friend” program. Offer a gift to those who refer others to you.

Add some or all of these list-building strategies to your marketing plan and watch your prospect list grow!

Where Can a Funeral Casket Be Purchased?

Filed under: World Wide Web Resources — admin @ 8:51 pm

When an individual passes away, they are generally buried in a casket. Funeral caskets can be purchased directly from the casket makers or from a funeral home.

Typically individuals purchase a casket from a funeral home. Funeral homes, also commonly referred to as funeral parlors, are designed to help families cope and arrange a memorial service for their deceased loved one. Depending on the selected funeral home, many offer assistance for all of the planning stages. This may also include selecting a casket.

A funeral home may offer a wide selection of funeral caskets. Many locations will have their selection on hand for viewing or in a catalog display. Depending on the number of caskets available, there is usually a wide selection to choose from. Funeral caskets are made from various different materials. They can also come with many different designs or artwork, if preferred. For example, a casket could have crosses, hearts, angels, or other peaceful or religious ark work carved in. There are also caskets that come with detachable pieces, allowing family members to keep this as a memento.

Funeral caskets are important because they will be seen at memorial services. The deceased individual will be buried in it and it will be the last memory that many friends and family will have of the deceased. Selecting a funeral casket is a decision that many family members must all agree on.

Another common place to purchase a casket is directly from the maker. This is often done if a casket needs to be custom made or personalized. Funeral homes also purchase caskets from the manufacture. Since they will generally purchase a large amount of caskets at one time, they are typically given a wholesale casket price. This means that they will be purchasing their caskets at a price lower than normal. By purchasing a wholesale casket lot, many funeral homes are able to offer their quality caskets a reasonable prices to their customers.

A customized funeral casket directly from the maker will likely have to be ordered in advance. It is not uncommon for individuals to make burial arrangements ahead of time, especially if they are sick. More and more elderly individuals are trying to plan out their funerals and other final expenses. This is done to help relive the financial burden on remaining family members. Although it is typically common to order a customized casket in advance, there are many casket makers who will rush an order. This feature is nice; however, it will likely cost a large amount of additional money.

No matter when a casket is purchased, there are great deals available on quality funeral caskets. Although it is a difficult decision for family members, there are many who are selecting a casket based solely on price. Thanks to wholesale casket companies, many funeral homes are able to offer their fine caskets at discounted prices. Finding the perfect casket may be expensive, stressful, or time consuming task, but it can be one of the most important decisions in an individuals life.

www.funeralmarket.com/cas_history.php = Aiken Smith is a writer for Funeral Market where you can find burial urns and funeral caskets of high quality at discount prices.

The Importance Of Vitamins To Your Body

Filed under: World Wide Web Resources — admin @ 5:12 pm

The body needs a minimum amount of vitamins and minerals each day to remain healthy and function properly. A balanced diet normally supplies sufficient vitamins. However, serious disorders can still develop if the diet does not meet your body’s needs. Symptoms of a deficiency in vitamins and minerals usually appear when the lack is already in a relatively advanced level.

For instance, people who do not have enough of the vitamins A, B1 and B2 suffer from recurring tiredness, mental or emotional disturbances, loss of appetite and chapped lips, among others.

The common causes of these vitamin deficiencies include poor eating habits, alcoholism, emotional stress, the improper absorption of vitamins and minerals (usually due to liver or intestinal disorders), the intake of medicines that interfere with the ingestion of vitamins and lack of exposure to sunlight.

If you constantly feel sluggish and suffer from chronic health-related inconveniences, you might be short of the vitamins your body needs to function properly. Doctors will usually prescribe supplements that address the lack of vitamins and minerals in the body. However, also keep in mind not to overdo it, as an excess of vitamins can also be harmful.

Do you still need to take vitamins even if you maintain a healthy diet? The answer is yes. Proper food consumption should be accompanied by the right vitamins and minerals. Vitamins serve as buffers in the event that your diet does not meet your daily requirements fully. Surely you can’t calculate how much vitamins and minerals your body takes in with every meal you consume. And while most people take vitamins to avoid common deficiency-related diseases, not all products available cater to what your body requires. There are those that still lack what you need.

The key components you must look for in a supplement are the vitamins B6, B12, D, E and folic acid. Aside from being dietary supplements, these so-called B vitamins have been known to help combat certain types of cancer and heart ailments. While there remains no hard-lined link between cancer and a daily intake of B vitamins, studies that suggest their preventive powers have helped raise the importance of daily doses of vitamins and minerals into our system.

Standard RDA-level vitamins can easily be bought over the counter at a reasonable price. Yes, the old belief that a proper diet is enough to keep you going has become a myth. It is time to invest in our health. Whether we admit it or not, we need vitamins. Sure, it does lead to added costs; but when we really think about it, vitamins are probably the cheapest type of insurance readily available in the market right now. Who are we to say no?
